DVB-T2 in Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is in transition to DVB-T2 and HEVC. (article on www.digitaltveurope.com)

1. Supported Products

The following Hauppauge products support DVB-T2 / HEVC on a Windows PC: WinTV-soloHD, WinTV-dualHD, WinTV-HVR-935 HD, WinTV-HVR-1975, WinTV-quadHD, WinTV-HVR-5525, PCTV 292e

2. Recommended Software

For best results with DVB-T2, it is important to use the WinTV software version 8.5, because it includes an optimized HEVC video decoder. WinTV v8.5 is included (as download) with all mentioned products above.

3. System Requirements for DVB-T2

The system requirements for DVB-T2 are much higher than for DVB-T. An Intel Core i3 CPU @ 2.0 GHz or equivalent processor is recommended for DVB-T2.

4. What you need to know when installing WinTV v8.5

Before you install the WinTV v8.5 application, please make sure that as country location "Germany" is selected in the Windows system settings. In Windows 10 go to Windows logo > gear icon ("Settings") > "Time & Language" > "Region & Language", and under "Country or Region" select "Germany". After installation, this can be set back to the original location.

How to verify that the HEVC decoder got installed

After installing the WinTV software you might want to check that the HEVC decoder is installed. In the "WinTV 8.5" application click on the gear icon in the lower left corner to open the WinTV settings, select the "Advanced Options" tab, set the checkmark at "Enable 3rd Party Decoders". Verify that the drop down labeled "HEVC Video:" shows the entry "MainConcept HEVC Video Decoder".
